Photography has been a dream of mine from a small age. I was bought a camera before embarking on a trip to Africa and immediately fell in love with it. It is safe to say from that moment on I knew exactly what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing.
After completing a degree and spending years in various fields including fashion, journalism and studio photography I was desperate to work alone. Bizarrely it was my current boss at Venture that mentioned Annabel Williams and encouraged me to go and see for myself.
Doing the bespoke course was a life changing experience for the business and my personal life. Just before doing the course my father tragically passed away and I was unsure whether I was in the right frame of mind to embark on such a journey. Everyone at the Annabel Williams Studio offered continuous support not only when visiting but they also encouraged to call anytime.
Bespoke taught me to value what I do and that business is tough especially when you see yourself as a creative. As well as giving you inspiration for the photography you are taught about all essential skills you will need to run a successful business. In addition to this I made some wonderful friends who I am in regular contact with.
I am coming up to my fourth year in business now with 25 weddings a year, plenty of lifestyle shoots and some fantastic commercial contracts. I can now refer to myself as an “award winning photographer” and last year myself and my partner bought a 17th century cottage. Running a business is hard work but by far the biggest achievement for me is to do something I love as a full time job.
