Food Glorious Food - Food Portraits at Aspire Photography Training
Food photography is a hot topic right now and if you are interested in food, drink, produce, travel or photography, you are more than likely to LOVE food photography. As a nation we are celebrating food more than ever and are appreciating quality produce, healthier food and locally sourced produce. Aspire Photography Training is proud to support the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year which is an incredible opportunity for food photographers to showcase their best work. The finalists gallery exhibits some of the best photography from around the globe at the Mall Galleries, London each May and is an inspiration overload for all aspiring food photographers and stylists. I cannot recommend these awards enough.
For all of us food is a huge part of what makes us human. For others, a love and passion for food and quality produce is part of our lifestlye and is part of who we are. Everyone has their own story. As a food writer with incredible skills in the kitchen Joan Ransley’s talents were often let down by photography that misrepresented her work and decided to take control and learn photography herself. She is one of the best photographers I know and such an amazing teacher.
For me, already being an experienced lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer, I believe that my passion for food comes from my heritage, being brought up in the South of France with strong, earthly flavours, vibrant colours and bold scents flowing from the food markets through to the kitchen. There is nothing more delightful to me that sitting round the dinner table for hours with family and friends eating simple yet quality dishes. This together with having a partner who is an incredibly talented chef, became a natural progression for me to combine my skills as a photographer with my love for food.
Here at Aspire Photography Training we are so excited to launch our ‘food portraits’ course with Joan Ransley and myself this spring. The first course of the year last week started with a magnitude of fresh ingredients, herbs and an array of some of the best artisan products Cumbria has to offer, including sourdough created by Aidan Monks from the award winning Lovingly Artisan Bakery. The students bloomed under the careful guidance of the training team and the standard of imagery at the end of the day was exceptional.
